Railtracks Agent Development Kit by Railtown AI
Open-Source ADK for Building AI Agents
Certifications & Compliance
Description
Railtracks is an open-source Agent Development Kit (ADK) from Railtown AI. It helps development teams build, test, and run AI agents and multi-step agentic workflows using standard Python.
Many agent frameworks rely on YAML files, custom languages, or hidden logic. Railtracks instead lets teams define agent behaviour, tools, and workflows with the Python they already know. The result is agents that are easier to debug, easier to maintain, and faster to move from prototype to production.
Railtracks has been downloaded more than 35,000 times and is released under the MIT license. It is part of Railtown AI’s end-to-end AI stack, which also includes Railengine, a real-time data ingestion engine, and Conductr, a platform for cloud deployment and agent observability.
Platform & Solutions
Railtracks gives teams a flexible foundation for single-agent and multi-agent systems. It is backed by documentation, working examples, and an active developer community.
Core capabilities include:
- Building agents, tools, and multi-step flows entirely in Python, with no YAML, DSLs, or magic strings.
- Turning any Python function into an agent tool automatically, so APIs, databases, and existing business logic can be connected quickly.
- Connecting to external tools and services through Model Context Protocol (MCP) support.
- Working with major model providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Azure, as well as locally hosted models through Ollama, all through one unified interface.
- Using built-in validation, error handling, and retries to make agent behaviour observable and more reliable.
- Running tasks in parallel automatically, with native async support for responsive, scalable applications.
- Inspecting agent runs and evaluations in real time with a local visualizer that needs no signup.
- Working with standard Python debuggers, IDE autocomplete, and type checking.
- Extending into production with Railengine for real-time, context-rich enterprise data and retrieval (RAG), and Conductr for deployment and observability.
Common Use Cases
- Automating multi-step business processes such as intake, triage, review, and routing.
- Building internal knowledge assistants that search company documents and data.
- Creating customer-facing agents that call tools, APIs, and business systems.
- Coordinating multiple specialized agents on complex tasks.
- Prototyping agentic products quickly, then hardening them for production.
Railtracks also powers AI Partnerships’ own Partner Discovery Agent, which helps partners find relevant AI solutions across the AIP network. More sample agents are available here.
Best Fit Customers
Railtracks is best suited to organizations that want to build their own AI agents with full control over code, models, and infrastructure, without getting locked into a proprietary platform.
Strong-fit customers include:
- Software and product teams adding agentic features to their applications.
- Enterprise IT and data teams building internal AI agents on top of existing systems.
- Startups and scale-ups that need a fast, open-source path from prototype to production.
- Organizations that want model flexibility, including the option to run local models.
- Systems integrators and consultancies delivering custom agent solutions to clients.
- SMEs that want custom AI agents built with guidance from an experienced implementation team.
- Universities, accelerators, and training programs teaching AI agent development.
Ways to Engage
- Self-serve: Install Railtracks for free and start building with the documentation and example library.
- Guided build: Work with Railtown AI on solution architecture and custom agent development built on Railtracks.
- Full-stack deployment: Pair Railtracks with Railengine and Conductr for real-time data, deployment, and monitoring in production.
- Developer enablement: Hands-on workshops and hackathons for teams learning to build AI agents.
How to get started
Fill out the inquiry form below and let’s start working together. AI Partnerships will introduce you to the Railtown AI team, who will map your existing processes, check your data quality, and identify gaps. They’ll then recommend any integrations you may need and agree with you on controls and success measures, so you can confirm the strategy is improving your workflows.
About the company
Railtown AI is a Vancouver-based software company that provides enterprise AI services, turning manual, repetitive work into reliable AI agent workflows that it deploys and operates in production. Its offering is built on an end-to-end technology stack, from its Agent Development Kit to its Data Ingestion Engine to its Cloud Deployment and Observability Platform, all in one ecosystem. The team designs each workflow as an agent-run playbook, with clear steps, guardrails, approvals and success criteria, and connects it to the systems where the work already lives, from tickets and documents to internal apps and data sources. Agents are grounded in a company’s own knowledge so outputs stay accurate and current, then deployed to run reliably on schedule or on demand across teams and environments. Railtown continuously monitors performance, cost and failures, debugging and iterating until each workflow is stable and measurable, delivering faster execution, fewer handoffs and repeatable results without added overhead.
Regions Served
Canada and global. Railtown AI is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. The open-source Railtracks ADK is available to developers worldwide, and Railtown AI supports implementation projects for organizations in Canada and beyond.
